Here at Top Dawg Innovative Dog Training, we offer a variety of different training services to cater to each individual pet owner, this is our “BOARD AND TRAIN” service. Our board and train service (can also be known as “dog boot camp”, or “residential training”) is a comprehensive training program where a dog stays with our professional trainer for an extended period, typically ranging from a few weeks to several weeks (in this case it would be 2 weeks). During this time, the dog receives intensive training and behavioral modification to address specific issues or improve overall obedience.

Here's how a typical board and train program works:

1. Initial Assessment: The process usually begins with an initial assessment, where the trainer evaluates the dog's behavior, temperament, and training needs. This helps the trainer design a customized training plan tailored to the individual dog.

2. Residential Stay: The dog then stays at the trainer's facility or home for the duration of the program. This residential setting allows for round-the-clock supervision and immersion in a structured training environment.

3. Training Sessions: Throughout the board and train program, the dog undergoes daily training sessions with the trainer. These sessions may cover a range of obedience commands, behavior modification techniques, socialization exercises, and any specific issues identified during the assessment.

4. Consistency and Reinforcement: Consistency is key in board and train programs. Trainers use positive reinforcement techniques, such as treats, praise, and toys, to reward desired behaviors and encourage learning. Corrections may also be used to discourage unwanted behaviors effectively.

5. Socialization and Exposure: Depending on the dog's needs, the trainer may also focus on socialization and exposure to various environments, people, animals, and stimuli to help the dog become well-adjusted and confident in different situations.

6. Owner Involvement: While the dog is in the trainer's care, owners will receive updates on their dog's progress through regular communication, including phone calls, emails, or video updates. Some trainers may also offer follow-up sessions or lessons for owners to learn how to reinforce the training at home.

7. Transition and Follow-Up: Once the board and train program is complete, the dog transitions back to the owner's home. Trainers will provide follow-up support and guidance to help owners maintain the training progress and address any challenges that arise during the transition period. First follow up is usually within 5-7 days after owner picks up the dog, after that, we offer 3 additional, optional private sessions that can be utilized in any way the owner pleases to do, At Top Dawg, in Owners home, maybe a refresher, or need additional help with a certain trick, all up to the owner.
