Special Cases

anywhere between 5 - 8 Weeks

At Top Dawg, we understand that not all dogs fit the mold of typical training scenarios. Some dogs have unique challenges and require a more tailored approach to their training. Our "Special Cases" program is designed to address these exceptional situations with the expertise and attention they need. Whether your dog has a bite history, exhibits severe aggression, or displays unusual behavioral issues, we are here to help.

(Please Note, the following is only attempting to quote the extreme and severe cases, Not every dog who has for example Recourse guarding, will need to be included in the โ€œspecial Caseโ€ genre. Again, this is only for extreme cases that will take far more care and precision then regular board and trains, hence the longer board and train time and price. Only one of our trainers can decide what makes a dog in need of a special case board and train, please contact or request a consultation for more information)

What Constitutes a Special Case?

Special cases can encompass a wide range of behaviors and histories that make standard training methods insufficient. Here are some examples of situations that would be considered a special case:

1. **Bite History**: Dogs that have bitten humans or other animals require specialized intervention to ensure safety and proper behavior modification.

2. **Severe Human Aggression**: Dogs displaying aggressive behaviors towards people, whether due to fear, past trauma, or lack of socialization, need expert handling to prevent dangerous situations.

3. **Resource Guarding**: Dogs that aggressively protect food, toys, or other objects can pose a risk to themselves and others. Addressing this requires careful, individualized strategies.

4. **Shelter or Rescue Dogs with Behavioral Issues**: Dogs that come from shelters or rescues often have unknown or traumatic pasts, leading to complex behavioral problems that need specialized attention.

5. **Extreme Anxiety or Fear**: Dogs with severe anxiety, phobias, or fear-based behaviors, such as extreme reactions to noises, people, or other animals, require a unique approach to help them feel safe and confident.

6. **Reactive Dogs**: Dogs that overreact to stimuli such as other dogs, people, or environmental changes can benefit from a customized training plan to manage their reactivity.

7. **Compulsive Behaviors**: Dogs exhibiting obsessive-compulsive behaviors, such as excessive licking, tail chasing, or pacing, need targeted strategies to address these issues.
